Our History

Catalyst Youth UK has been in the making for 7 years. When we say making we discussed loads about starting a youth movement, we joked about this vision, (we stopped talking about this vision, but we can ignore that bit) and then suddenly here we are.
In January 2020 we created CATALYST YOUTH UK

The Cambridge Dictionary says 'CATALYST a condition, event, or person that is the cause of an important change'

We feel as a Childrens and Youth Christian movement that following Christ is that 'important change'.
B
ut we have to start somewhere:
Currently we serve West Sussex and Somerset. But our vision is to cover the whole of the South of England and then the whole of the UK.

We would like to think we are at the forefront of making a difference in children’s lives.

Located at the intersection of community and life, Catalyst Youth UK is a faith movement never seen in the UK.

We, with Gods Grace will become a movement that is a life-affirming journey that builds on the richness and power of lifelong values. We would like to teach young people the values and skills they need to become exceptional community leaders.

Our scripture foundation is:
'1 Thessalonians 5:11 – Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.'

Proverbs 22:6 - Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

We are all part of a bigger picture. We can all make a difference, and an impact, but we can’t do it alone.

Our Aims & Objectives!

Children and Youth have so much to offer to the world - we believe in the power that they hold, and know that they will mould future generations to come.
At Catalyst Youth UK, we are here to give them the support they need in order to shape them into leaders of the future, help nurture youth and help them develop the skills they will carry throughout their lives.
We plan on running many events under the banner of 'Catalyst' and look forward to seeing what God has instore for Catalyst and the young people we serve.

With Catalyst we would like to create an enticing and engaging resource and movement for young people and churches alike. Throughout every event and motion, we will keep God at the front and centre as one of our main missions will be to bring the young people to know Christ and to accept God into their lives. We will work to provide a safe and comfortable space for young people to learn more about the Bible, God and life experiences.

What makes Catalyst different to organisations already in place though is that we have created a platform through the use of our website where young people can have someone to chat to whenever they may feel they have questions, worries or just feeling a bit lost. We will pride ourselves on the fact that we will provide an easy platform for those who may need it, with a quick reply system to avoid any extra worry or harm.

With Catalyst, we have 5 main aims which we will work towards as we build this initiative up from the foundations which we already have in place:

  1. To help young people build a relationship between them and God

  2. To provide a personal relationship between Catalyst and the young people

  3. To bring together a range of young people and youth leaders across the South of England from different backgrounds and across all Christian denominations

  4. To develop and build up an engaging platform for young people to access and use as a way of talking and asking questions with a quick reply system

  5. To plan, run and develop a range of exciting and engaging events to provide teaching, comfort and relationship building

As the movement evolves over time these are prone to change to go along with out priorities and needs, and the plans which God has in store for the future of Catalyst Youth UK.

Our Statement of Faith!

We have two foundation scriptures:

Proverbs 22:6 - 'Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.'

1 Thessalonians 5:11'Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.’

We believe that God never changes and that His gospel message never changes. Our task is to present the gospel message of His great love to our generation in as an uncomplicated way as possible.

Our statement of faith is summed up in the following evangelical statement of belief from the Evangelical Alliance.

We believe in …

  • The one true God who lives eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  • The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.

  • The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.

  • The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.

  • The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.

  • The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.

  • The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.

  • The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.

  • The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.

  • The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.

  • The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and a new earth.
